Brief Description of the Entry

PINS stands for Personal Information and Navigation System.
The PINS products has been developed in response to a very real need to
overcome everyday traffic congestion. As everybody knows, it is bad and
getting worse - governments have no short term solutions.
With stalled vehicles, accidents, and construction projects accounting
for 50% of delays, commuters and professional drivers want real-time
information to make real-time choices to avoid traffic congestion and
to know the traffic speed on planned routes. Without PINS, drivers
are helpless to make the in-route decisions needed to avoid traffic,
save gas, and arrive at their destination sooner.

PINS products deliver real-time traffic information in a simple,
cost-effective, and user-friendly manner. A PINS enabled receiver
displays a color digital map of the freeway and major road system
of a selected Metropolitan area. Overlayed on the map are status
lights showing the actual sensors that are embedded in the road
surface to measure traffic speed and congestion. The PINS system
collects this information from government agencies and transmits
it to a PINS enabled receiver every few minutes 24/7. The map displays
traffic speeds, incidents, and construction delays, and has the ability
to zoom-in on any area to display street level information.

The PINS data can be transmitted to a wide variety of devices from a
proprietary PINS 500 receiver to PDAs, touch-screen computers and
stationary kiosks. It can even interface with the satellite navigation
systems already in use and display real-time traffic information onto
their digital maps. For more information please refer to:

GBAX version

The PINS500 for GBAX2005 contains Los Angeles / Ventura county maps
zoom level 1 and 2, while for other counties only leve1 zoom is defined.
Zoom level1 is approximately 216 km, while zoom Level2 is 65 km altitude.
The real receiver's driver and parser are ommited from this version.
To simulate real PINS receiver, content of 12 messages is embedded into
code and cycle of filling UART bufffer with such messages may be
initated by pressing Key B. These messages are real messages recevied
during development.
